From Rustic and Classic, to Cool, Clever, and Comfortable

This may just look like any traditional barn from the 19th century, but wait til you get a peek inside. Simply known as ‘The Barn’, this project done by Carney Logan Burke Architects is an interesting blend of the rustic and modern design. The Barn is located in Wilson, Wyoming, and is owned by a couple who wanted the classic form of a barn, with a little surprise inside.

Using timber from Montana Reclaimed Lumber, the exteriors are rustic and traditionally shaped, reminiscent of most barns. It has two square shaped windows at the lower levels, allowing for a lot of air to circulate, giving the interiors a lot of room to breathe. The place measures a generous 2,400 sq meters and sits on 15 acres of land at the Tucker Ranch. Surrounded by a beautiful landscape, the brownish gray colors of the wood blend perfectly well in its environment.

Contrasting the rustic, classical, look of the facade, the interior tells a totally different story. Once you step in the door, the traditional farm structure becomes a sleek, clean, and modern house.┬áThe ground floor houses a spacious garage containing the owner’s vintage car and bicycle collection, with checker tiled floors complimenting the wooden walls. There is a kitchenette, equipped with a mini fridge, small cooking top, and a Rose Tarlow table with some chairs perfect for some afternoon coffee, tea, and snacks. The bedroom is very inviting, with it’s walnut canopy bed, adorned by Ralph Lauren faux fur, velvet headboard with leather detailing. One of the main highlights of The Barn is the gym on the second floor. Almost taking up the entire space, the expansive exercise area boasts an enormous glass window that shower the insides with natural light as well as offering a majestic view of the river and woods nearby. The Barn is a remarkable piece of architecture, turning something so rustic and dated into something that is clever and fresh. Truly a surprising and exciting place to live in, this place is anything but your ordinary barn. Take a look through these photos and tell us what you think on our Facebook Page!
