A Birds-Eye Experience

Damian Maynard and Jim Wilson designed and built the birdboxcabin – a three meters by three meters cabin elevated atop a small granite outcrop. Located on the edge of Rjandsfjordenin, an inland fjord in the country of Oppland, it stands on three-meter stilts, giving a birds-eye view of the lush, green canopy surrounding it. The cabin’s design and construction gives careful consideration to minimize environmental impact. The floor and door timbers were recycled from a demolished farmhouse and the paneling was taken from old agricultural outbuildings. The cabin is fully insulated with a wood burning stove, making it usable all year round. Take a look at these photos and then tell us what you think on our Facebook Page!

Its the round window that emulates and projects the cabins intriguing and captivating charm. From the outside it draws you in with childhood intrigue and fascination, plays with the imagination, conjuring up images of a giant blue tit that will pop its head out to observe its surroundings at any second. From the inside you are housed safe and secure, comfortable, warm and contented, all you can do is contemplate the view that floods your senses, and after cutting that round window out, with a beer in hand, thats exactly what I did.
