BRINGING THE MOUNTAIN AND THE LODGE TOGETHER

AN AMAZING BLEND OF MAN-MADE AND NATURAL WONDERS

What’s the best way to design a lodge on a mountainside? Should it stand out or should it blend in with its surroundings? This housing project just found the sweet spot for that dilemma by making a mountain lodge that stands out by being able to blend with the natural landscape so well.

This luxury lodge will have a size of about 1000 square feet to 3000 square feet. The roof will be designed to hold plants to allow the structure to blend with the lush surroundings. Large windows and a generally translucent structure allows for natural light to flood the interior. The vast and beautiful scenery is visible from the inside allowing for the feeling of immersion in nature. To top it all off the building’s exterior would reflect its surroundings, allowing it to completely blend into the mountain landscape.

Private and guest quarters were built into the steep mountain slope. Through this, we were able to achieve a natural feel, as the green roof will eventually be covered by native plant life. Just as with the living area so too the private space had been provided with large glazing.
