The Cabin Seated by the Hillside

Classy AND Cost Effective

Located in Winthrop, Washington, this 850 square meter cabin was designed by Balance Associates Architects in 2007. Built with simplicity and cost effectiveness in mind, the cabin opted for a minimalist box design and used sheet materials to maximize material efficiency. Held together by two concrete walls, it positions itself in a cantilever on a hillside, giving its inhabitants a good view of the beautiful landscape surrounding the cabin while minimizing environmental impact. This project shows how good designers deliver interesting architectural solutions in a cost effective manner without compromising quality or aesthetics. Take a look at these photos and tell us what you think on our Facebook Page!
