Not to Mention, Healthy to its Occupants and the Environment
Designed by Pluspuu Oy Architects, this stunning black and white Villa in Central Finland is immaculate in its construction, pack full of modern amenities, and covers a mere 100 sq.m. The contemporary home is constructed of triple layered laminated timber logs with beautiful mitered corner joints, using modern methods that eliminated cross corners in traditional timber construction.
In Finland, logs are also used for constructing schools and kindergartens, for example, these days. The most important criterion for using timber logs in the construction of public buildings is the clean and healthy indoor air in the log house.
The house is also built to withstand the Scandinavian winters; triple-glazed thermal glass windows and blown-in wood fire insulation on the roof keeps the house well-insulated. The house also utilizes geothermal heat keep the interior toasty, and draws cool air from the ground during summertime.
