A Nostalgia-Invoking Rustic Exterior
Its nostalgia-invoking refined rustic exterior is what undoubtedly makes this McCormick Ranch so darn fascinating, while the interior remains plainly traditional (in an elegant way, of course). It’s a 3 bedroom, 2 bath located in Crested Butte, CO on a-whole-big-hunk of land, full of hay and mountains. There are three buildings in total: a guesthouse, barn/garage, and the main house. They are all powered by solar energy. And if you’re still wondering about the sales price tag, well, start pinching your pennies, cuz the asking price is a whopping $3.3 MILLION dollars. So is it worth it? Take a look through these photos and tell us what you think on our Facebook Page!
McCormick Ranch is comprised of seven 35 acre lots on the edge of Crested Butte. They are some of the very few 35 acre parcels from which owners can walk or ride a townie bike to town, yet enjoy the peace, tranquility and privacy of open space. The lots allow for one 5000 sq ft. house, one 1500 sq. ft guest house and one 1000 sq. ft. barn or garage. The guest house and barn have been built on 1021 McCormick Ranch Road. The large finished space above the garage is perfect for a studio or office. The house and barn have been built to the highest environmental and aesthetic standards. The trim and doors are solid cherry, custom milled and built by local cabinetmaker David Treadway. The floors are 100 year old reclaimed hardwood flooring. Constructed of structural insulated panels (SIPs), the house is extremely well insulated and quiet. The solar water panels collect heat which is stored in a large insulated water tank to provide extra heat when the sun is down. An air circulation system (ERV) circulates fresh air throughout the house while retaining heat when the outside temperatures are low.
