The Elliptical Boat Dock

Although the building we’re featuring today isn’t technically a “cabin,” per se, it is a pretty amazing structure that you could potentially envision as one.  This uniquely shaped boathouse is located on a bend in Lake Austin, across the Canyonland Nature Preserve. The Shore Vista Boat Dock was designed by Bery Chen Studios, and it is truly a marvel sitting amidst the steady waters and lush greenery.

The Shore Vista Boat Dock’s elliptical shape gives you the best view of the hills and landscape surrounding the area. The house contains a gently sloping staircase that wraps around the structure. It is two stories tall, with a curved glass balustrade surrounding the first floor deck. Access to the lake is provided by a series of stepping‐stones and a gently inclined staircase to the second level.

The boathouse has a waterfall with a makeshift beach area behind it at the lowered part of the ground floor deck. Boats are able to dock at a recessed area of the deck, with woven chairs perfect for lounging and admiring the beautiful scenery.
