When Designing Or Renovating Your Home Always Remember The Three L’s: Lighting, Lighting, And Lighting
A couple decided to update their old apartment to prepare for the arrival of their child by fixing one of the most important details when it comes to home design: lighting. Though the apartment only has 750 square feet of living space for them to work with, the couple managed to make good use of every inch of their home using smart and efficient furniture and fixture design.
Their use of wide glass doors and windows added a more spacious feel to the whole apartment; this in addition also provides lots of natural lighting to the home which brightens everything up both literally and figuratively. This paired with the smart use of space really made a difference to this couple’s apartment. So whenever you feel stuck when it comes to where to start with your house design, try thinking about the lighting.
“We started by stripping the space down to its bare structure, so we could picture how the light comes through the openings,” Rauchwerger says. “Then we started placing walls, some that reach the ceiling and others that reach just below the beams, which allows light to pass through uninterrupted.”
