What It Looks Like When Rustic Meets Modern

Pump House is a one of a kind architectural masterpiece by Branch Studio Architects.  Originally commissioned to provide a place to house their clients’ farm equipment and water pump, the design certainly evolved along the way, wouldn’t you say?  Now the “Pump House” serves as a lovely little lakeside retreat.

Sections of corrugated Colorbond iron clad the asymmetric roof and two side walls, which feature narrow horizontal windows. The front and rear walls are entirely glazed, so the owners can open the interior to a deck overlooking the lake. The main space in the building is an open-plan living room and kitchen featuring a wood-burning stove. A central bathroom divides this space from a studio and bedroom at the rear, which offers views out into the countryside.
