 A Dynamic Interplay between Levels

This 300 square meter Terrace House located in Puntarenas, Costa Rica was designed by Benjamin Garcia Saxe Architecture. The house features an open layout that takes advantage of breathtaking views of the ocean and the jungle. It is designed to be eco-friendly with the use of a passive solar design, cross ventilation, rainwater harvesting, and locally sourced materials. The house minimizes site disturbance with attentive placement of the house against the back of the hill. Take a look at these photos and tell us what you think on our Facebook Page!

“The result is a series of interwoven terraces that relate to each other in all dimensions creating not only an internal dynamic interaction between levels, but also varied and sometimes unexpected relationships between the inhabitants and the natural landscape,” write the architects. “In these interstitial terrace spaces, which are never truly inside or out, architecture comes to foster the relationship, enjoyment, and appreciation of the natural world by the inhabitants.”
