FINNISH COMPANY HONKA BUILDS A STUNNING HOME THAT’S MADE TO LAST
Nothing best suits a peaceful retired life like a cozy log home. Raymond Mongeau and Marie-France Daniel needed a home where they can spend the rest of their lives together in peace surrounded by nature. Mongeau designed their home, and Honka brought his design to life. The result is what they now proudly call their dream home.
The home sits on a hill where they can take full advantage of the warm natural light. The house features spacious living spaces and minimalistic furnishings. There’s an open-space mezzanine with a vaulted ceiling that doubles as Daniel’s office and a mini-library. To top it all off, the home is close to lush nature, giving off a serene and refreshing atmosphere.
Honka uses certified Scots pine trees, also called Finnish pine, to manufacture its logs. The benefit of this species is that it grows very slowly, thus making the wood exceptionally hard and able to withstand extreme weather conditions and changes in humidity levels with little or no cracking. In Finland, more Scots pine trees grow than are harvested, so it is also an ecological choice.
