Steve’s Stunning Dome Home in Northeast Thailand

Quick, Affordable, Strong, Beautiful and Fun

Along with a local Thai friend and his son-in-law’s masonry skills, Steve’s dome home was up and painted in just 6 weeks. The dome structure is quickly assembled from cement and clay blocks, costing under $6000. Details like the doors, screens, pond, stonework and landscaping, as well as the interior furnishings added another $3000 to the total cost of the dome home.

As much as I love my dome home, I probably would not have built it if was a long process. The low cost and time-efficiency of using blocks is what enticed me into building. Now the goal is to take this design… and build with more sustainable materials that better insulate for colder climates.
