TAKE A PEEK INSIDE A 300-SQ.FT. FAMILY TENT

Defying Expectations of What a Home Should Be, One Family Decided Live in a Tent

When one thinks of a house, they would originally think of wood or concrete structures. However for the Ruiz family, living in a tent was the best choice they ever made. Having only an acre of land in New Mexico, they wanted to quickly move and get settled so they transformed a tent and lived in it.

Once inside, you’ll be amazed at how the kids’ sleeping space, dining area and kitchen fit perfectly. A raised platform is the perfect place for the couple’s king-sized bed while the loft serves as the bedroom for the Ruiz children.

What’s even more amazing is the fact that you can find a wall closet near the kitchen wall intended for use of storage and a bathroom with a composting toilet located on the other side of the tent. Solar energy fuels the house while the installation of a glass wall provides natural lighting. In addition, their tent-house is located in a rural area that makes them embrace nature while being strategically located near the city for grocery runs.

“Our main goal is just family and time and not working too much and just priorities in life,” Zac told Insider.

“Tiny homes aid in your pursuit of freedom. They’re the tool.”
