A Floating Workspace?

Exbury Egg is an off grid wooden floating structure located on the shore of Beaulieu River in England. The living egg was built through the collaboration of  PAD studio, the SPUD group, and artist Stephen Turner, costing a mere £40,000.  Built sort of like a boathouse, I suppose you could say, it has a quirky bed, a desk and a little stove. The fascinating appearance of the structure has made it very unique and has resulted in many awards as well.  Take a look and see for yourself.  Could you ever live there?

Exbury side of the Beaulieu River this floating wooden pod structure moves up and down with the tide. Built by a local craftsman using age-old boat building techniques, The Egg houses a bed, desk, small stove and wet room, sufficient to allow Stephen to exist in a basic fashion. A life link and interactive webcam enables virtual visitors to follow Stephen’s journey and to engage throughout.
