1970S CABIN TURNED INTO AN ECLECTIC MODERN HOME

SEE HOW THIS CREATIVE COUPLE BROUGHT LIFE INTO THEIR OLD BUT NEW HOME
Fashion designer, macrame artist, and teacher Jo Abellera, together with her author husband, Guillaume Wolf, and their 6-year-old daughter Margaux, have found the perfect home in this M-like framed cabin, located at Lake Arrowhead, California.
Originally from LA, the couple said that they knew the house was specifically made for them the moment they went and drove by the scenic community nestled in the San Bernardino mountains to take a good look at the property.
The cabin was comprised of three bedrooms and three baths that were all in good shape so instead of having to deal with a major renovation, the couple just focused on updating the interior and removing any obtuse design details. Some of the changes they made that instantly modernized the house were replacing the existing carpeting with hardwood floors and renewing the light fixtures.
They also didn’t have any hard time transitioning to the rural lifestyle because the property isn’t completely isolated and they can continue with their creative practices as long as they’re connected online.
“The house itself has amazing geometry,” Abellera explains. “It has really beautiful angles and lines. We especially liked the vaulted ceilings with huge triangular windows that look up into the trees and sky… it (the house) has good bones,” she says. “We just wanted to honor it.”
