A HAVEN OF KNOWLEDGE ATOP AN ANCIENT MOUNTAIN
ENJOY A GOOD READ IN THIS BOOK HOUSE HIDDEN IN THE MIST
This mountain house was created to serve as a space where people can relax while reading a book. The design puts emphasis on its relationship with its surroundings. The house maintains a connection with the outside while providing a private and serene space for readers on the inside.
The book house acts as a hub where people of all ages can enjoy some downtime. There’s a space where children can play, where the elderly can relax, and the young can enjoy reading through a variety of books. The Mountain House in the Mist by Shulin Architectural Design sits in an ancient mountain forest in Liangjiashan Village, China.
As the reader wonders around in the corridor, their horizon opens together with the entrance, and the boundaries disappear. When standing on the other side of the entrance, people can see through the window and watch others reading books at the balcony, and farther, the hills and forests far away. The perspective from different layers creates communication between people, space and the environment.
