[Before and After] A Reconstruction Project You have To See To Believe

Unbelievable At First

See how how this old log building was transformed from a dilapidated and damaged structure to a cute little rustic cottage.  This immense reconstruction project is a must-see for anybody considering using reclaimed wood to create something new.  Check out these Before and After photos for inspiration!

Our log house was built sometime in the mid 19th century as a Norwegian-Lutheran parochial school. The Losen descendants were close family friends, and in 2007 they gifted us the building.  We stripped it to the logs, numbered everything, and hauled the trailer-loads of stuff- siding, logs, foundation stone, bead board, basically everything that was reusable- back to the farm.  It took three years to piece the house back together and the result is fantastic!  Nearly every piece of the house is reclaimed, and those that aren’t, like the windows, were replicated to match their originals.  Everyone who sees it can’t believe it hasn’t been sitting here for the past century and a half.
