A Warm Alpine Shelter For Tired Mountaineers

Eat. Hike. Rest. Repeat.

 

This contemporary little cottage was placed on the Slovenian Alps for hungry and tired hikers looking for some shelter.  It is a heavenly gift for them as it saves them from extreme weather change and any dangerous mountain specie.

 

ROUGHLY TRANSLATED FROM SLOVENIAN:  Projects in the high mountains pose a particular challenge to architects, structural engineer and designer.  The situation necessitated by the wind, snow , landslides , rugged terrain, scorching sun and wild storms dictate the specific architectural forms and conceptual design.  Bivouac is an object that represents the original form , the symbol of shelter.  It is intended for temporary shelter from bad weather, as the rest [spot] of exceptionally strenuous climbing or hiking tours and the like.  Spela Videčnik, architect, on the question of what part of the high buildings so specific and demanding explains:  “Designing the interior dictates modesty, which is completely subordinate to function as it should in the low area to provide shelter and lodging for those who take refuge in him. The outer shape and choice of materials could make the extreme conditions in the mountains. “
