Designed by architect Harry Gesner, The Autonomous Tent is a 47 square meter structure that, while it can be permanent, it can also be assembled and disassembled quickly. The curved metallic grid gives the cabin its cocoon-like shape while its resilient fabric exterior protects users from inclement weather. Solar panels and high-tech composting toilets make this structure energy efficient and environmentally friendly. The cabin features a modern design with flexibility in an open floor plan with spacious soaring ceilings. Manufactured in Denver, Colorado, the Autonomous Tent has a variety of sizes that accommodate different uses with allowing clients to customize. “These tents are used for both personal and commercial applications, including private gourmet dining experiences, luxury guest suites, yoga studios, spas, cocktail lounges and hunting and fishing lodges,” Parr explained. A company started by Harvard graduate students, Getaway,recently expanded its micro-cabin leasing service to New York City after a successful debut in Boston.
