BEAUTIFUL CONVERTED SPACE IN WEST FLANDERS

From The Outside, It Still Looks Like a Barn…
Studio Farris is entirely responsible for this thing of beauty. This space in West Flanders in Belgium used to be a small barn that was converted to a sleek contemporary office. It houses a meeting room, library, and some work desks.
The focal point of the entire space is the stacked wooden beams— it breaks up the room and it is actually a beautiful design piece. Not only that, it’s also multifunctional furniture piece— used for storage, shelving, seats, and stairs. What a fresh concept!
The materials reference the building’s original function and and ground the contemporary design in its rural surroundings. The original facade has also been restored and new openings were created to make the space more functional for its new use.
