It Is Built on the Side of a Rock Cliff Wall on a Private Canyon Alcove
Located at the base of the Sleeping Ute Mountain in Cortez, Colorado is this cliff house. The house is built on the side of a cliff wall surrounded by the mountain and the historic McElmo Canyons. The property is located in a historic area that is both private and stunning. Guests can encounter wild animals such as deers, foxes, and mountain lions. 1,000 year old petroglyphs can also be seen within the property.
The actual house is nothing short of stunning. A spacious living room greets guests with the actual rock on which it was built on as its walls. There is a kitchenette with basic appliances and a breakfast bar with the view of a desert garden. A small book nook carved out of the rock walls is also available. The property also has an office with a loft leading to the sleeping area as well as a bathroom. The house can accommodate a total of 4 people and still be cozy and comfortable.
The property does not have a TV as the owners believe its surrounding nature provides enough activities and entertainment. It even has a tipi which guests can use for a truly outdoor camping experience.
A stay in this property costs $229 per night.
In addition to being built into sandstone rock, the Cliff House is landscaped with native species that bloom all summer. Around the corner from the house, in another rock alcove, is a little lawn. Enjoy comfortable porch seating with a stunning view.
