August 15, 2016 | Awesome, Cabin Living, Cabin Remodels, Design and Decor, Do It Yourself, Historic Places, Inspirational Cabins, Log Homes
| The cabin was designed to have a basement for storage that was made with concrete but all other materials were hand-hewn and natural. Floor joists and the ridgepole is made out of white oak, the shingles are made out of cedar shakes while the roof and the porch purlins are made from hickory and ash found on the property. The rumford fireplace is also one of the many features of this log cabin where in it is designed to be tall and shallow with angled sides to radiate better into the room. A fallen oak tree found new life as part of the stairs to the loft space.
