Charming Low-Key Winter Getaway

The Alder Brook Cottage in Hardwick, Vermont Was Built By Loving Hands
This tiny home is undeniably popular, and rightfully so. It has been featured in plenty of magazines and other publications, and has several glowing reviews on Airbnb. Conveniently located a short drive away from the popular sights in town, it’s the perfect base for those who are looking for winter adventures and then some.
The home is truly rustic— there is no electricity or running water, but there is an outhouse and a wood stove. You are also never too far away from modern conveniences and superb artisanal food shops.
The home was built by loving hearts and hands — inspired by a childhood dream, the owner Kyle and his girlfriend made the dream possible by studying cabin books.
You can stay at the Alder Brook Cottage for $72 per night.
When I was young, I had a dream in which I lived in a tiny house in the woods. I still remember every detail of it. As I went through my teens and twenties, the dream never faded…and so, in 2015, my girlfriend and I decided to give it a try. We bought land in the woods of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, and guided by our hearts and many books, we built a tiny house. a bundle of firewood is appreciated in the cold months.
