IF YOU WANT A CABIN BUILT RIGHT THEN BUILD IT YOURSELF

NOT ONLY DID THESE DESIGN STUDENTS SAVE MONEY, BUT THEY ALSO ENJOYED ADDING THEIR MORE PERSONAL TOUCHES TO THER DESIGN
The best part about building a home yourself is that you’re in full control of what goes into your design. Be it within the plan or something spontaneous you can always guarantee everything will go according to your liking.
Two design students managed to build themselves an off-grid summer cabin with a budget of $14,000. They did all the work themselves with some help from their friends. The end result is a cost-efficient home they can truly call their own.
One of the benefits of building the home themselves was the convenience of making changes to the design when they needed to. This gave them the flexibility to design their cabin as much as they needed to.
“As we built everything ourselves, we not only cut costs, but we were also able to make changes along the way,” Bergmann said. “As a result, we extended the terrace, built the roof ourselves after all — contrary to the initial plan — and made the stovepipes ourselves.”
