Rolling Forward with A Brand New Typology of Camper Home
With the press of a button, this cylindrical camper unit magically extends at both ends; its side walls slide elegantly outwards, expanding the enclosed interior space by 3 fold.
“The concept is the brainchild of French-designer Eric Beau. He wanted to bring the benefits of a larger trailer in a smaller package easier to tow and move around on backcountry roads. The system works using electrical actuators powered by a car battery. The interior furniture folds neatly together, requiring no tear down or set up. Its compact configuration is ideal not just for taking it on the road but storing it in parking spots, driveways or garages when not in use.”
Measuring about 15 x 6ft when fully expanded, the camper provides a generous 129 sq.ft of interior space, including a shower, toilet, a fully equipped pantry, and two double beds, with optional gas and water heater feature. The best part is the sized-up camper weighs just 2.2k pounds, making it towable by most small trucks and SUVs.
Available in a wide selection of colour schemes, the BauEr 3X is currently for sale in France at the price around $25k USD. Rumours are that there are plans to expand their sales across Europe and North America. We definitely look forward to see them rolling off the roads soon in America.
