Japanese Inspired Zen Houses

Living and Working Together

Zen houses is a housing development project located on the outskirts of Liberec, Czech Republic. Designed by Petr Stolin Architekt, the structure is divided into a residential and work studio space. Using straightforward and efficient construction techniques, it simplifies at the same time optimizes the project development.

The Zen Houses are built as two separate identical cubic forms adjacent to each other, framing a large tree. Each house has two floors, and measures three meters in width. The exterior envelope is built with transparent acrylic panels mounted on a wooden frame, allowing a lot of natural light to enter as well as highlight the details of its exposed wooden structures.
