OFFA’S PITCH OAK LODGE IS A ROMANTIC GETAWAY
A Well-Deserved Break From City Life
In a small town in South Shropshire near Birmingham in the UK lies a remarkable oak lodge for two called Offa’s Pitch. This wooden tent-like structure made of solid oak is located at the heart of a valley overlooking hillside fields and forested lands. The home is named after the Anglo Saxon King Offa. Legend has it that he came and pitched his camp near this area.
This oak lodge was made to look like a tent in the middle of nowhere. Its wooden interior is charming and homey, and it makes for a nice romantic escape. You can also cook your favorite dishes in the hand-built kitchen, it has almost everything that you need!
Though Offa’s Pitch offers you peace and seclusion, the place still provides you internet access, music and some TV whenever you would feel the need to stay connected.
You can stay at Offa’s Pitch for a minimum of two nights. Accommodation starts at £150 or $210 per night.
As well as being a wonderful romantic escape, Offa’s Pitch also ensures you have great access to the Shropshire Hills, and is surrounded by gorgeous countryside. The lodge is situated in the Upper Clun Valley, which has plenty of undisturbed wildlife all around, and if you’re lucky you can spot timid roe deer and fallow, rare curlew and other beautiful birds including buzzards, redpolls and linnets. On cloudless nights stargazing is a real treat, made all the more enjoyable thanks to the lack of street lighting for miles around. Wrap up warm, sit on your deck and stare at the starry sky above. Ramblers and outdoors enthusiasts will be pleased to know that there are plenty of brilliant walking routes right on your doorstep, so be sure to venture out and explore this magnificent part of the country. There are also plenty of quaint villages nearby offering wonderful places to eat if you fancy an evening out.
