Stunning, Simple, and Eco-Friendly

But Why is it called the “Hen House” ?
Built on the Isle of Skye, this remote eco home in Fiscovaig is both low cost and ultra-efficient. It is designed by Rural Design Architects in the most graceful location of Scotland. Being both eco friendly and stylish, it has attracted enough eyes and gotten its fair share of news coverage. All fabulous photos were taken by photograher Andrew Lee.
Situated in the scottish highlands, the isle of skye is home to an idyllic rolling rusticity, one that local firm rural design architects seeks to incorporate into the overall gestalt of the vernacular architecture. The “hen house’ is a holiday getaway residence that eschews convention due to this very unique position in the landscape. The architects resolved to raise the house on small pilotis as a method of releasing the design from the hills and to make use of wider context of the topography.
