It’s Inside An Orchid Farm!
Yes, it’s not a cabin, but interesting nonetheless. Step inside Arrom Orchid in Chiang Mai and you will be greeted with lush greenery and fascinating wooden structures giving off an ambiance of zen. This family-run orchid farm has been in business for more than 30 years. To keep up with the times, the farm’s current design was renovated to incorporate an indigenous material that is not only environmentally-friendly and harmonious with orchids but is also able to withstand the architectural demands of the place.
Bamboo was used by the owners in reconstructing the farm’s restaurant. Bamboos are very lightweight making them easier to transport while still being resilient enough to act as a structural foundation. Bamboo can also meet the different shading conditions of the area since orchids require contrasting amounts of light at different stages of their growth.
What resulted was a structure of bamboo with various ceiling designs that are supported by bamboo poles tied together. Wooden furniture with hints of neutral colors also adorns the place. Surrounding this property are various greens that the Arrom Orchid continues to grow and nurture.
