A Taste of FLW Design in a Beach House

You Can Now Affordably Vacation in a FLW Creation

Okay, you may not be able to buy a Frank Lloyd Wright designed house recently put up for sale.  But you know what, the next best thing might just be an opportunity to feel how it’s like to live in one — for example, via a short vacation stay.  And here’s one with an easy-on-the-pocket price of only $150 a night!  It’s a luxurious and fully-furnished beach house located in Crystal Lake, Virginia Beach, Virginia, with spacious rooms and modern day amenities.  Take a look at these photos and tell us what you think on our Facebook Page!

The 3,000-square-foot house located on Crystal Lake in Virginia Beach is the only Wright House with direct boating accessibility to the Atlantic Ocean and the Chesapeake Bay.  For 23 years it has been home to the Cooke family, Maude, Andrew and their children.  In 1983, Daniel and Jane Duhl purchased the property.  Their restoration . . . received an award for preservation from the AIA of Hampton Roads.  The restoration was informed by passive solar design and included the introduction of floor heating, direct lighting and a new air conditioning system that protects the house from heat and humidity.
