THIS A-FRAME CABIN IS AN ARCHITECTURAL MARVEL

Every Inch Of This Log Cabin Is Well-thought Of

Nestled among trees on top of a steep slope is this modern cabin called Bunkie on the Hill. The cabin is designed as a nature’s retreat for individuals living in the multi-generational houses just a few steps below it. The result is a contemporary structure made with intentional design and materials.

The cabin features a split-roof design that allows for different elevations of its façades allowing for a play in size. Geometric windows provide views of the surrounding nature and lake while filling its interiors with natural light. The cabin makes use of various types of wood such as oak, maple, and cedar. Design elements mimic nature such as the entrance foyer with the slatted cedar screens intended to look like tree trunks.

The home’s wooden interiors are balanced by muted furniture with pops of color here and there. Pleasing aesthetics aside, the log home is also functional with every nook and cranny meant for storage or lounging.

The upper loft area includes a built-in desk with a view down to the living space on the first level and the vast lake beyond, as well as an extra space for sleeping.
