It’s A Celebration of Architectural Ingenuity
Among the alps of Calanca Valley lies this stand-out structure. The exterior already makes this property pop out from the stark black-and-white color of the surrounding properties and snow. Upon closer look, one would see a cube-ish design with articulate lines and large, unconventionally-shaped windows. One would not expect that such structure is actually a private residence.
This home in Switzerland was designed by famed architects to adapt to its surroundings. Openings to the structure were strategically placed to let air and light naturally flow through the house. The interiors are minimally designed. Large high ceilings with unique designs adorn the place. Everything, from the walls to the floors, are designed with a lighter shade of wood which gives off a clean and minimalist aesthetic.
This home is truly an intersection between architecture and minimalism.
The primary shape of the cube soothes us and makes us feel the gravity keeping us firm to the earth, while its spiralling development breaks the symmetry and makes the space dynamic and light like the wings of a bird.
