Sustainable Barn Living
Made to be energy efficient, BarlisWedlick Architects designed this handsome barn to follow the contour of its site at Hudson Valley, New York City. This 180 year old barn was relocated from a neighbor’s property, and the exterior uses traditional Japanese shou-sugi-ban techniques for the facade to achieve its charred look. The interior has 1,000-square-feet of living space that features an industrial rustic design with a wood-burning stove and layered rugs that mitigate drafts in the cold season.
